Kokkilai Sanctuary

The last capital of the ancient kingdoms, Kandy is the home for the Sacred Temple of Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in the world. An annual event of a pageant takes place in July carrying the Tooth Relic around the city. Cultural dancers, elephants decorated with lights and many local dances aligned walk along from night till dawn.
